How to Taste

Principles of Pairing | How to Serve | How to Taste | Flavor Pairings

  • Start inhaling the vodka from about two inches away and slowly bring the glass closer. Swirl it to release more of the aromas and check the nose again (that's fancy talk for smell).

  • The first thing to determine is the vodka's intensity. Is it subtle and delicate? Earthy or robust? Identifying its intensity will play a large role in how to pair it with food.

  • Look for three types of elements in our vodkas' bouquet: flowers, fruit or vegetables at first, herbs and spices second, and wood and minerals last.

  • Take a bite of food. Enjoy the textures, flavors and aroma. (Chew well like your mama told you.) Now take a sip of vodka. Notice how it enhances your food, but does not linger on your palate. So feel free to steal a bite from your companion's plate.
