Step 1 Clean refrigerator -- i.e., discard last week's Chinese takeout. Chill the bottle for at least an hour before serving, but not so much to put the flavors and aromas to sleep.
Step 2 Pour into clear cordial glasses, preferably Grandma's Baccarat, and bask in its rich color. Be sure to savor the distinctive aroma and complex nose (that's fancy talk for smell). If no cordials are handy, a small wine or grappa glass will do the trick.
Step 3 Close eyes and take a long sip. Notice layered flavors and slight increase in pulse. Refuse urge to gulp. Politely nibble on amuse bouches. If not at own home, steal host's bottle of Modern Spirits.
Steps 4-6 Pour. Sip. Repeat. |
