Modern Spirits Dips into Chocolate-Orange Vodka
LOS ANGELES, 11.13.2004 -- Southern California-based Modern Spirits launched its chocolate orange sipping vodka to fulfill a need in the market for a nuanced drinking experience.
Melkon Khosrovian, Modern Spirits creator, stumbled upon chocolate orange after attending a party where he accidentally knocked a piece of chocolate into his hostess' drink. While trading glasses with his gracious hostess, he noticed a warm, earthy aroma in the now-chocolate infused liquor. An awkward moment might have embarrassed others, but it gave Khosrovian an idea.
At home, he experimented with several grades of vodka, an even larger array of chocolates and inspired flavorings. The result was an intoxicating mix of Belgian chocolate and succulent oranges with a hint of Mexican cinnamon.
Modern Spirits stands out due to its fresh flavoring aesthetic. The artisanal infusion methods avoid any further distillation, resulting in full-bodied flavor and jewel tones that are meant to be savored.
Combining only the finest ingredients from French teas and Belgian chocolate to exotic spices and select orchard-ripe fruits, they hand blend premium wheat and potato vodkas in small batches to highlight a flavor's unique spirit. Modern Spirits vodkas are presented in French glass bottles, ready for a secret indulgence or for gift giving.
About Modern Spirits Modern Spirits was founded by entrepreneur and vodka enthusiast Melkon Khosrovian and his wife, food writer Litty Mathew. Their main focus has been creating custom infusions like candied ginger, French tea and Oregon black truffle for private events. Chocolate orange is Modern Spirits' first retail endeavor, and is available in 375ml and 750ml starting November 2004. |
